Baptism is a public declaration of faith for the individual who has received Christ’s saving work and become His disciple. Disciples are baptized by water immersion following Christ's example (Mark 1:9-13) as an act of obedience (Matthew 28:18-20) and a testimony of faith to oneself, the church, and God that they are a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) and that they desire to walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4).
